Project 4 Silhouette and Lettering

I picked Lee Min Ho because he is one of my favorite actors. He was in the first Korean drama that I watched and since then I became addicted to Korean dramas. The images I used were money, Personal Taste poster, scripts, an airplane, Boys over Flowers poster, the South Korean flag, a microphone and a place in South Korea. I used money because he is a famous actor who starred in many dramas. I used the Personal Taste and Boys over Flowers poster because these are a few of his well known dramas that he starred in. I used the Korean flag to represent his nationality. I used the script to describe that he is an actor. I used the airplane because he travels around a lot.I used the microphone because he is also a solo singer. I used the place in South Korea because he was born in Heukseok-dong, Dongjak-gu, Seoul.

My mask made the silhouette work because it outlines the shape of the person that I used so you can tell where he is. I wrote that this is Lee Min Ho. He is a famous South Korean actor that worked in many dramas and series. He is also a model and singer. He travels a lot. I chose these sentences because I thought that it described him well. The collage worked with my project because I was able to fit in in the mask/selection well. What didn't work was the words because they are still a bit squished.

Project 3 Photo Restoration

Before image

In this project I scanned an old photo that I brought to class, saved it on my flash-drive and tried to improve the photo using Photoshop. I used the patch tool to get rid of the white dots on the black floor, making the floor completely black with no white spots. I used the blur tool to blur the little spots near then window so you can't see it. I also used the patch tool for some spots on the window so they could vanish. I used the dodge tool to brighten the window curtains, the walls, and the table. I used the burn tool to darken his hair. I used the sponge tool on saturate mode to saturate his face making the wrinkles unnoticeable, hands, and his feet.
I used the sharpen tool on his face to make him stand out. I also used the blur tool to blur the black spots on the wall that's near the corner. I used the healing brush tool to cover the edges of the photo that was a bit white, to match the floor. The tools that I used overall to improve the image were the patch tool, blur tool, dodge tool, burn tool, sponge tool, healing brush tool, and the sharpen tool. These skills are useful in the future because I am able to change how someone looks completely making them look like a different person. I can use this knowledge when making an advertisement or commercials.

Lab 6 Reflection Journal

For lab 6 First I worked with each picture individually, placed them in different corners while re-sizing them with help from grid. For the picture on the top right, I used the spot healing brush to remove the sprinklers and glass. Using the healing brush tool, I pressed down the alt key and clicked on the grass at the same time. Then I covered the grey area with grass.

In the top left picture, I used the patch tool to select an area that didn't have any holes and dragged it to the bullet holes which got covered by the selection. I used the eraser tool to erase the bullets on the right side. Then I used the healing brush tool by pressing down on the alt-option key, selected a target and then covered the area. Then I used the content aware move tool to select the person and I dragged her to the right. I used the clone stamp tool by pressing down on the option key and selecting a target that didn't have any writing on it, and then I covered the area with the writing on it.

For the bottom left picture, I selected the rectangular marquee tool to select the top right corner of the image and went all the way across up to the top of the window. I changed the fuzziness and used the paint bucket tool to change the color from blue to red. I used the blur tool to blur on the whole left side of the window. I used the sharpen tool to make the whole right side of the window look more focused. I used the smudge tool to smudge the roof tiles. Then I used the dodge tool to brighten the left pane. I used the burn tool to darken the right side of the pane. Then I used the sponge tool on saturate mode to saturate the flowers on the right making them look lively. Then I changed the sponge tool mode to desaturate and I desaturated the flowers on the left side making them look dead.

In the bottom right picture I made a new fill layer on gradient choosing any style and angle that I wanted. I chose the diamond style and angled it the way I liked. Then using the horizontal type tool, I wrote down my name, class, period, date and lab number in the font and text style I wanted to use.

Finally I put all the pictures together into one document by using the grid I re-sized the images and made sure to keep their proportions the same by pressing down the shift key. The tools I used overall for this lab were the spot healing brush tool, the healing brush tool, the patch tool, the content aware move tool, the eraser tool, the clone stamp tool, the rectangular marquee tool, the paint bucket tool, the blur tool, the sharpen tool, the smudge tool, the dodge tool, the sponge tool, and the horizontal type tool.

MP1 Self Evaluation

I am on target of my SMART goal. My SMART goal was to get at least 95 or higher on my classes for MP1. I can improve for this marking period by taking better notes, submitting my labs and work on time, and by listening carefully to directions. Also by staying on task and finishing all my work. I will study more to get a better grade for my tests or quizzes. I will review my notes and submit all my hw on time. I will also come over to tutoring when I need to finish any work.

HW Editing Tools

The spot healing brush allows you to remove marks, fix blemishes, and clears up spots. It quickly removes imperfections in your photos/images.
The brush tool draws brush like strokes. You can create special effects, including calligraphic effects using the brush tool.
The clone stamp tool allows you to copy an area of an image and copy it onto another area. It paints with sampled pixels of an image and is used in Photoshop for pixel-to-pixel cloning.
The history brush tool takes a color picture, turns it into black and white, then brush the original color back into a particular feature. It allows you to paint and reveal previous states of images.
The eraser tool changes pixels to either the background color or to transparent. It is used to remove areas of color from the current layer or from a selection of this layer.
The paint bucket tool fills the continuously colored area with the foreground color or pattern. It can be used to fill an area with a specific color.
The blur tool unfocuses or blurs image areas.
The sharpen tool increases the contrast among adjacent pixels to give the illusion that things are sharper. It sharpens specific areas of an image.
The smudge tool uses the current brush to smudge colors on the active layer or a selection. It spreads and mixes content of image areas.
The dodge tool helps brighten trouble spots in your photos. It lightens the pixels you paint.
The burn tool darkens the pixels you paint.
The sponge tool is a retouching tool used to alter the saturation of a portion of an image.

Project 2 Warhol Portrait

Sheima Begum                                    Project 2 Warhol Portrait                                Visual Design
Andy Warhol is an artist that crated silkscreen prints of famous people and popularized pop art and pop culture. I would buy his artwork because it looks unique. His artwork reminds me of pop because the colors stand out. The association is pleasant because of the different colors. In pop culture critics reflect on the image and points out things that could have been better and gives their opinion on it. The difference between an informed and uninformed opinion is that an informed opinion is an opinion that you are aware of while and uninformed opinion is an opinion that you don't know about. Taste and bias is different because your taste is something you like or dislike while a bias is a favor of or against something that is usually unfair.
Warhol's portraits have a lot of different colors, which makes it seem lively. The poses are different angles or sitting positions. Portraits are important to us because of their deep meanings that we can relate to and understand the feelings/emotions they contain. Artists painted portraits throughout the ages because they are able to express themselves and capture a special moment that is important/precious to them. I feel excited and satisfied about making a Warhol portrait of myself. It is important to pay attention to color and detail in this project so you don’t make a mistake. Sometimes you have to start all over again from scratch because of a mistake you make while not paying close attention to color and detail.

I created my Warhol portrait first by taking a picture of myself, and then use the quick selection tool to select only me. Then I de-saturated my picture, prepared a canvas and made a folder, dragged the layer inside it. Then I duplicated the folder 3 times and used the move tool to arrange them and re-sized the image. Then I used the rectangular marquee tool to select a photo and changed the background by going to layer-solid fill layer and selected my colors. Then I changed the images color by clicking select-load selection. I clicked on the paint bucket tool, changed the color and adjusted the color. Then I used the yin-yang symbol to add image adjustments to the image layer. The tools I used were Photoshop move tool, paint bucket tool, quick selection tool, and rectangular marquee tool, re-sized the image, and used the palette. I see myself using this skill in the future with my future projects, labs, helping other and on my website.
